Fr. Zacharias is the son of a career Air Force father and has been blessed to live in many different places across this country. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Illinois at Springfield, and a Master of Divinity from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, MA. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 24, 2017.  Fr. Zacharias served at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Greenville, SC from 2016 until 2020, when he was transferred here to Saint Katherine and installed as the proistamenos. He, along with his wife Amanda, and two children, Elijah and Kassiani, are proud to serve the community of Saint Katherine.

Despina was born and raised in Brooklyn NY, as the daughter of 1st generation Americans born to immigrants from Sparta, Greece. She was a parishioner of Saints Constantine & Helen Cathedral and attended A. Fantis Parochial School. She graduated Ft. Hamilton High School in 1974. In 1975, she married the love of her life, Dail and they moved to Medford NY. They have been blessed with 3 children & 6 grandchildren.

She moved to Melbourne after her husband retired from the NYC Fire Dept, and she then began working for Saint Katherine in January of 1998. At that time the secretary left suddenly and she was asked to help out until a replacement could be found. The inside joke in our Church has always been that she was never “officially hired”. Yet, 22 years later, she is still happily serving the community of Saint Katherine.
